Helena, Mont. – Fighting Saints Track & Field wrapped up regular season away meets at the Montana Open on Friday and Saturday.
In the Frontier Conference 3000m Steeplechase Championships, Brycen Gardner took 1st for the men, leading a steeple squad scoring 15 points for the Saints that will count towards the upcoming conference meet. Peter Rehberger placed 4th and Oliver Morris placed 6th. On the women's side, Hannah Sempf was All-Conference, placing 2nd. Jenna Castro placed 5th for the Saints, bringing the women's score to 10 points. Rehberger, Morris, and Daniel Koralewski set personal records in the race.
Sorren Reese advanced her Javelin mark for the season, achieving the NAIA A Standard. She placed 3rd in the event at the highly competitive meet. Reuben Hornby, who threw the A standard earlier this season, placed 2nd in the Javelin for the men.
Other Top 3 finishes included Weston Means winning the High Jump and Rylee Herbstritt placing 2nd in the 400m Hurdles. Herbstritt's race was a personal best. Reese and Tucker Monaco also ran lifetime bests in the 400 Hurdles. Monaco's run moved him into 6th on Carroll's All-Time lists.
Many other Saints set personal records at the meet, and the team was particularly strong in the 400m. Madalen Shipman, Kailen Herbstritt, and Chloe Raats all set or equaled lifetime bests in the event. In field events, records included Crisha Polk in the Discus, Means in the Long Jump, and Jackson Barney in the Pole Vault. Barney's vault moved him into 9th on Carroll's Top 10 lists. In distance events, Marco Gonzalez-Sosa ran his fastest time ever in the 800m, as did Anna Terry and Nicole Morgen in the 5000m.

The Fighting Saints will take action again in Helena this coming week with the Trudnowski Open on Wednesday April 24 and Thursday April 25. The meet will serve as the Frontier Conference Championships for the Decathlon and Heptathlon, and those events will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday and conclude starting at 9:00 am on Thursday. The Javelin will also be contested Wednesday at noon with other field events beginning at 11:00 am on Thursday. Carroll's graduating track & field athletes will be honored at 10:15 am on Thursday, and running events will begin at 11:00 am.
