HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Softball team will welcome the Owls of Oregon Tech to town for their final home series of the 2024 season at Centennial Park in Helena on Friday and Saturday.
The Fighting Saints (17-20-1, 10-11) will look to solidify their position in the conference standings, hoping to beat the Owls (33-7, 18-3) and send off a pair of seniors on the right note.
Carroll enters the weekend sitting at No. 6 in the CCC standings, an important position with just six teams qualifying for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship later this month. The Saints sit four games in front of the No. 7 team, Providence, with just two weeks remaining in the season.
Securing a couple of wins over the Owls this weekend will be critical. A good weekend in Helena can effectively lock up a postseason berth ahead of the Saints-Argos series next week in Great Falls.
A pair of seniors will be playing their final games at Centennial Park this weekend,
Kaitlynn Ayers (Twin Falls, Idaho) and
Layne Bauer (Missoula, Mont.). The two fourth-year players have combined for 30 hits and 12 runs on the season, with Ayers boasting the team's third-best batting average (.329).
With the 41st SAA Auction taking place this evening, games both days will take place at 11 a.m. and the second leg of the doubleheaders starting at 1 p.m.
All four games will be streamed live on the
Fighting Saints Network, presented by Point S Tire & Auto Service.
