Helena, Mont. – Carroll College Track & Field will head to the Montana Open in Missoula, Mont. on April 19-20 for their final regular season away meet before the Frontier Conference Championships.

Saints Recap

The Fighting Saints competed at home for the first time last week with multiple personal records across the team. Highlights included the Decathlon and Heptathlon where Tucker Monaco ended the meet in the second highest spot for the NAIA for the Decathlon. Sorren Reese is also currently ranked in the NAIA Top 16, a spot that would earn her a trip to Nationals along with Monaco if she remains in position for the rest of the season.

Preview

With only two meets left in the regular season, the Saints will again send a large group to compete in preparation for the Frontier Conference Championships on May 5-6. Thirty men and twenty one women will head to Missoula from the Carroll squad.

The first event of the Frontier Championships, the 3000m Steeplechase, will be contested this weekend at the Montana Open. Brycen Gardner, Luke Decker, Peter Rehberger, Daniel Koralewski, Oliver Morris, Hannah Sempf, Jenna Castro, Erika Arthur, and Grace Schopp will race for the Saints. Strong competition is expected from across the conference.

Carroll will again be chasing NAIA Qualifying Standards and hoping to add to the list of seven individuals already qualified. This includes Zack Gacnik (10,000m A Standard, 5,000m B Standard), Brycen Gardner (3000m Steeplechase A Standard), Reuben Hornby (Javelin A Standard), Weston Means (High Jump B Standard), Sorren Reese (Javelin B Standard, Heptathlon), Chloe Gallagher (Pole Vault B Standard), and Tucker Monaco (Decathlon).

It will be a great day for high level competition with NCAA Division I University of Montana and Montana State University solidifying their Big Sky Conference rosters. NCAA Division II CSU-Pueblo will also attend and add to the competitiveness of the meet.

The Hammer Throw and Javelin will take place Friday at 11:30 am Mountain Time at Dornblaser Field. Field events will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday with running events at 11:20 am.
