HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Softball team will play a rare mid-week doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon, playing NCAA Division I Montana in a pair of exhibition games at Grizzly Softball Field in Missoula.
The Fighting Saints (17-19-1, 10-11) will square off with the State's only NCAA Division I team, the Grizzlies (14-26) in a pair of non-counting games this afternoon.
Coming off a marathon weekend at Centennial Park, which saw the Saints host five games in a span of three days, Carroll will look to pick up their first win over the Griz in the spring season (0-15 all-time), leading up to a big home finale with Oregon Tech this weekend in Helena.
At the moment the Saints are No. 6 in the CCC standings, sitting in the final spot for the CCC Championship later this month. They'll look to grab some momentum against a Montana team that enters the doubleheader on a six-game skid.
The two teams played a similar doubleheader last season in Missoula, where the Grizzlies won 9-1 and 7-5 early in the season.
The Saints did pick up a 4-3 win over the Griz in fall ball last October, an exhibition that didn't count for either team.
Kenna Thomas (Belgrade, Mont. / JR) has been the most consistent Carroll batter this year, hitting .355 with six homers.
Alyssa Lybbert (Las Vegas, Nev. / JR) is right behind her, batting .351 with out only three strikeouts114 at-bats this year.
Both games will be aired throughout Montana on SWX stations, as well as on
ESPN +.
