SALEM, Ore. - The Carroll College Softball team will look to continue their four-game win-streak this weekend, taking on Corban in a mid-season CCC series in Salem.
The Fighting Saints (7-12-1, 3-5) are looking to build on their first conference wins of the year last weekend in Helena, and have a good opportunity to do so against the Warriors (1-23, 0-9).
To the surprise of few, weather again is the big storyline heading into the series. With heavy rain expected in the Salem area, coaches made the decision to alter the start times in an attempt to beat the downpour.Â
Friday's games are slated for first pitches of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., an hour earlier than originally scheduled.
The pitching effort from four different Saints helped lead Carroll to four wins a week ago, but for the first time in a month the bats backed up the outstanding efforts in the circle.
Carroll scored 17 runs in the sweep over Bushnell, their most since a 12-run outburst at NCAA Division II MSU Billings last month.
The Saints will have a good shot at continuing to climb the CCC standings this weekend, squaring off with a Corban team that has struggled through 24 games. The Warriors have just one win on the year, a non-conference victory over Simpson (Calif.).
