HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Softball team will begin their pursuit of another trip to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship, kicking off their season with a road trip to No. 13 College of Idaho this weekend.
The Fighting Saints (3-6-1) will look to start their conference slate off on the right foot, but will have their hands full with the NAIA's No.13-ranked Yotes.
Carroll has had an up and down start to 2024, the young team has shown the ability to score runs in bunches, but at times have been shaky in the defensive half of the innings.
Kennedy Venner (Billings, Mont. / SO) has looked good through the first ten games of the season. The former Montana Gatorade Player of the Year is 2-3 in her five starts, entering the weekend with a 2.63 ERA and 37 punch outs under her belt.
Ellie Koerber (Billings, Mont. / JR) has been the best bat for the purple and gold, with an OPS of 1.423 and a batting average of .421 including three homers and six RBI.
The long-awaited start to conference play was pushed back a day due to winter weather conditions in Idaho, so this weekend's series will feature a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. today, followed by an 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. doubleheader tomorrow.
All four games will be streamed live
