HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Softball team will see their final non-conference action of the season this afternoon when they square off on the road with NCAA Division II opponent MSU Billings today at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The Fighting Saints (2-6) are back in action after a three-week break in the schedule, and will look to start levelling out their record with a doubleheader against the Yellowjackets (3-5).
Carroll had an up-and-down start to their season in Arizona at the beginning of the month. The Saints picked up a pair of wins, but let a couple of winnable games slip out of their hands.
Per usual, Montana winter weather has hindered the Saints' ability to fully practice outdoors for the majority of the season, but the Saints are looking forward to an in-state battle out in the open air in Billings.
Infielder
Ellie Koerber (Billings, Mont. / JR) leads Carroll at the plate on the young season. Koerber has a .438 batting average that has seen her tally seven hits, three of which were homers on opening day. The Junior has 17 RBI on the year, and will look to continue her hot start to 2024.
Carroll won the lone matchup between the pair of Montana schools last season at a tournament in Minot, N.D. The Saints won decisively, grabbing a 15-4 win over one of only four four-year schools in Montana to field a Softball team.
