Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Carroll Men Hold off Rocky in OT Thriller, 90-85

BILLINGS, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Basketball team gutted out a hard-earned win in their final true road game of the 2023-24 season, winning 90-85 in Overtime at Rocky Mountain College on Thursday evening.

The Fighting Saints (17-10, 11-3) showed tremendous grit in their final road game of the year, holding off a second half comeback attempt by an up-and-down Battlin' Bears team.

The opening half was about as good as you can ask for from a statistical standpoint for Carroll. The Saints rode a six-point, 40-34 lead into the halftime break following an impressive 48 percent shooting half (16-33). Eight different Carroll players scored in the first 20 minutes, led by Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / JR) and his 11 point effort. Carroll out-rebounded the Bears 17-15 and had two fewer turnovers in the frame.

The Saints had an even better field goal percentage in the second half, going 16-32 (50 percent), led by Lames Lang's (Portland, Ore. / R-SO) 12 points, and Andrew Cook's 10 points, but it would not be enough to close the door on the Bears.

Rocky held a two point lead for the final minute of play, but Kendall Moore (Dayton, Ohio / JR) flashed his clutch gene once again, getting a contact layup to fall with just second remaining to tie things up at 74-74 and send the game to overtime.

In overtime, Moore scored seven-straight points, including a pair of cold-blooded three's to stretch the Carroll lead to as much as seven. Rocky would tighten up defensively, however, and following some empty possessions by the Saints, the Bears would pull within one point with 10 seconds to go. James Lang, as cool as they come, knocked down four free throws over the final ten seconds, and Carroll locked up the big win.

Cook led the Saints with 23 points on the evening, while Lang doubled-down on his last performance in Billings, scoring 18 points and nabbing nine rebounds.

In total, five Saints finished with double-digit scoring figures (Cook, Lang, K. Moore, Kramer, I. Moore).

The Bears were led by Kael Robinson's game-high 28 point performance, with 22 of those points coming in the second half and overtime.

A senior day matchup with MSU-Northern awaits the Saints on Saturday, where the Men will tip in the early 2 p.m. time slot.
