HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Basketball teams will head to Butte, Mont. this afternoon to finish their season series with Montana Tech. The Women will tip at 2 p.m., with the Men following at 4 p.m.

Both Carroll teams have already secured an opening round bye at the upcoming Frontier Conference Tournament, but neither team is ready to pull their foot off of the gas.

Thursday's win over No. 14 Providence clinched at least a share of the 2023-24 Frontier Conference Championship for the No. 8-ranked Carroll Women, and a win this afternoon would lock up the outright title.

The Saints will certainly not be overlooking a Montana Tech team that has performed better than last season, but Carroll will also have a confidence born from 22-consecutive wins over the Orediggers dating back to 2017.

Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / GR) turned in a 22-point, 14-rebound performance in Carroll's most recent win over the Argos, continuing an impressive campaign that includes four Frontier Player of the Week honors. Another good showing this afternoon can help secure the outright Frontier crown for her team, and will all but lock up the Conference's Player of the Year award.

Few, if asked as recently as December, would have guessed that the Carroll Men would have an opportunity to tie for the Frontier Conference lead with just three games remaining in the season. 

Carroll's only two Frontier losses, have come at the hands of the No. 10 Orediggers, including a 40-63 lopsided loss in the last meeting between the pair. However, the Saints have the chance to play spoiler this afternoon.

A Carroll win would leave both teams at 11-2 in conference play with just two games remaining. A 3-0 finish to the year for Carroll and 2-1 finish for Montana Tech would mean the rivals share the conference title, although Tech would own the No. 1 seed for the tournament by way of tiebreaker.

The importance of this afternoon's game is not lost on anyone in the Carroll locker room, and the Saints are ready for the challenge.

The backcourt play of Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / JR), the Frontier's leading scorer, Kendall Moore (Dayton, Ohio / JR) and James Lang (Portland, Ore. / R-SO) has been outstanding all season long, and will be key if Carroll aims to emerge victorious today. 

Isaiah Moore (Fairfield, Calif. / SO) has been an x-factor as of late. Moore has provided a boost of athleticism, length, and scoring off of the bench, and is sure to see an increased role against a Tech team that features scorers throughout their roster.
