Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Saints Score Six in Senior Day Shutout

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Women's Soccer team blanked Providence 6-0 in the final regular season game of the 2024 CCC regular season on Sunday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.

The Fighting Saints (10-4-4, 7-3-2) secured the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CCC Championship with a six-goal drubbing of the Argos (5-11-1, 2-10) on Senior Day.

Jaymee Sheridan (Helena, Mont. / SR) got things started for the Saints in her final game at Nelson Stadium, scoring in the 14th minute on an assist from Deanna Lord (Cave Creek, Ariz.), and the score would remain at 1-0 until the half.

Hayley Smith (Woods Cross, Utah / SO) doubled the lead in the 53rd minute, scoring the first of five eventual second half goals in the rout.

Sheridan added another point, assisting on an Emily Funseth (Great Falls, Mont. / GR) goal that moved Funseth into No. 6 on the all-time goals list at Carroll.

Delaney Moczan (Las Vegas, Nev. / SO), the top scoring threat in the entire league, found the back of the net in the 69th minute to bring things to 4-0.

With just four minutes left, Sheridan scored the second goal of her Senior Day brace, again with the assist from Lord.

Fittingly, another senior would put a bow on the lopsided win. Steffi Smith (Castro Valley, Calif. / SR) scored her second career goal with an assist from Funseth in the 90th minute, capping the win in front of friends and family.

Carroll dominated the stat sheet, out-shooting the Argos 31-11 in the match.

Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SO) was outstanding in net, tallying seven saves in the shutout.

With the four-seed locked up, the Saints will play fellow Montana school Rocky Mountain College in the opening round of the CCC Championship at 1 p.m. on November 10.
