Carroll Men Close Trip to Idaho with Loss to EOU

CALDWELL, Idaho - The Carroll Men's Basketball team fell 90-65 in a neutral site matchup with Eastern Oregon in Caldwell, Idaho on Saturday afternoon.

The Fighting Saints (3-6) were unable to find much of a rhythm on Saturday afternoon, suffering their second loss of the young season to the Mountaineers.

Isaiah Moore (Fairfield, Calif. / JR) got off to a quick start for second game in a row, helping give the Saints an early 9-5 lead. The Mounties would respond with a 24-6 run over the next ten minutes to build their largest lead of the opening frame at 14 points.

Carroll knocked the lead down to as little as seven points late in the half, but a pair of TJ Doman dunks in the waning moments would give EOU a 45-32 lead at the break.

Moore led the Saints with 11 first half points, but Carroll was heavily out-rebounded in the frame. The Mountaineers pulled down 17 boards to Carroll's 10 in the first 20 minutes.

Carroll would be unable to do much offensively in the second half, going just 9-26 from the floor as a team, while the Mountaineers shot 53 percent in the half to run away with the 25-point victory.

Again, EOU dominated the glass, nearly doubling Carroll on the rebounding front (EOU 40, CC 21).

Four Saints would score double-digit points on the afternoon, led by Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-FR) with 19 points.

Garrett Hawkes and Tj Doman each scored 22 points to lead the Mountaineers in the win.

After a very busy start to the 2024 season, the Saints will now have a lengthy break before their next game, a home tilt with future Frontier member Dickinson State on December 7.
