Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Carroll Men Fall to Blue Hawks, 90-81

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll Men's Basketball team dropped a Saturday afternoon matinee to Dickinson State, 90-81 at the Carroll College PE Center.

The Fighting Saints (3-7) struggled from three point range, shooting just 20.8 percent from beyond the arc in a frustrating loss to the Blue Hawks (4-5).

The early stages of the first half were very tightly contested. Both teams battled for the first ten minutes, with neither finding much separation until a Blue Hawk run near the midway point would break things open.

The half was a poor shooting one from the Saints as a whole, going just 37 percent from the floor (12-32), while combining to go just 2-13 from long range. Conversely, the Blue Hawks saw Trey Stevens knock down four threes of his own in the opening 20 and Dickinson State would carry a 44-33 lead heading into the halftime break.

By the midway point of the second half, Dickinson State saw their lead balloon to as large as 25 points, spurred again by threes and costly Carroll turnovers and empty possessions.

The Saints wouldn't go down without a fight, however, battling over the final five minutes of the game to chip away at the large Blue Hawk lead. Ultimately, the comeback effort would come up short with Carroll suffering its third loss in as many games, 90-81.

Four different Saints scored 15 points or more, led by 18 point performances by Isaiah Moore (Fairfield, Calif. / JR) and Derek Kramer (Bellevue, Wash. / JR), while the back court duo of Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-FR) and James Lang (Portland, Ore. / R-JR) each scored 15.

Kramer continued his double-double run, finishing with 13 boards to go along with his team-high 18 points.

Dickinson State's Trey Stevens went 7-14 from three point range, leading to a game-high 26 point performance for the Blue Hawks.

Carroll won both the rebounding (36-33) and turnover battles (11-13), but couldn't overcome the 5-24 performance from long range.

The Saints will return to action next Saturday at the PE Center, as they host Northwest (Wash.) in another Saturday afternoon matchup.
