CALDWELL, Idaho - The Carroll College Men's Basketball team fell 84-65 to No. 2 College of Idaho on Friday evening at the J.A. Albertson Center in Caldwell.
The Fighting Saints (3-5) brought the fight to the nation's No. 2 ranked team, the Yotes (3-1), in the first half but were unable to overcome a strong second-half C of I performance on the road.
A pair of Isaiah's,
Isaiah Moore (Fairfield, Calif. / JR) and
Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-FR) led the Saints in an impressive first half showing against a highly-talented College of Idaho roster.
Moore scored 11 first half points to lead all players, while Crane added seven of his own to help keep Carroll right on the coattails of the No. 2 team in the NAIA at the break, 28-31.
Midway through the opening 20, Carroll had built a lead as large as seven points, but the Yotes would end the half strong, scoring the final four points of the frame to carry a three-point lead at the break.
C of I started the second half on a run before aÂ
Kellen Harrison (Bozeman, Mont. / FR) three-pointer with 11 minutes remaining would cut the lead to four points at the 11 minute mark of the second half.Â
A quick 15-0 run from the Yotes over the next three minutes would break the game open, and C of I had a lead they would manage to hold for the remainder of the game.
After a relatively poor shooting first half, the Yotes would shoot over 50 percent from the floor as team in the second half, exploding for 53 points to put the game away, 84-65.
Moore and
James Lang (Portland, Ore. / R-JR) each scored 15 points to lead the Saints offensively, while
Derek Kramer (Bellevue, Wash. / JR) came up two points shy of another double-double with 10 rebounds and eight points.
Johnny Radford led the Yotes with 20 points, while Great Falls-native Drew Wyman scored 19 to lead C of I on the night.
Carroll will now turn their attention towards a revenge game with Eastern Oregon tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in Caldwell before heading home.
