Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Saints Stop Skid, Beat Embry-Riddle 62-57

HELENA, Mont. - The No. 9-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team picked up a 62-57 win over Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) in the annual Field Trip Game at the Carroll College PE Center.

The Fighting Saints (2-3), along with 2300 local area elementary and middle school students, made life difficult for the Eagles (2-3) on Wednesday afternoon.

Carroll came out in the first quarter ready to move on from a poor shooting performance in a pair of games last weekend in Idaho. Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-JR), Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / R-SR), and Meagan Karstetter (Moses Lake, Wash. / JR) each scored four points, but the Saints would only hold a one-point lead at the end of the quarter thanks to a 75 percent shooting frame from the Eagles.

Willa Albrecht took control in the second quarter, scoring eight of her 20 total points, while pulling down three rebounds to help extend the Carroll lead heading into the halftime break, 33-28.

Coming out of the break, the Saints scored more points in the third quarter than their last two third frames combined. Keller led the Saints with six points in the frame, while Albrecht added three more rebounds as Carroll saw their lead increase to nine heading into the fourth.

Missed shots early in the fourth by Carroll would allow the Eagles to creep back into the game, but the Saints would hold off the Embry-Riddle comeback bid to close out the 62-57 win.

Albrecht led all players with 20 points and six rebounds, while also adding three steals and a block.

Kyndall Keller finished with 16 points, while Meagan Karstetter posted ten points and six rebounds in the win.

Zackiirah King finished with a team-high 15 points and five rebounds to lead the Eagles.

Carroll will now host Bushnell on Monday evening at 7 p.m., looking to get back to .500 ahead of a busy final month of non-conference play.
