Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 9 Carroll Women Fall to Eastern Oregon in Idaho

LEWISTON, Idaho - The No. 9-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team fell to Eastern Oregon, 58-46 on Saturday afternoon in a neutral site contest in Lewiston, Idaho.

The Fighting Saints (1-3) again struggled to knock down shots on a consistent basis, dropping their second game of the weekend to the Mountaineers (3-1).

A poor shooting first quarter put the Saints in a bind from the get-go. Carroll went just 3-12 from the floor in the first 10 minutes, and Eastern Oregon would jump out to a 15-8 lead.

Points were hard to come by in the half, but Kyndall Keller's (Havre, Mont. / R-SR) five points in the second quarter would help the Saints match the EOU output, and Carroll would enter the halftime break trailing 26-19 in a low scoring affair.

Carroll dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Mounties 22-14 in the half, but they weren't able to turn the opportunities into points.

For the second-straight game, the Saints went ice-cold in the third quarter. Keller scored the only bucket of the frame for the Saints, as the team went 1-12 from the field. Eastern Oregon would bring a 39-23 lead into the final quarter.

The Saints would double their total output in the fourth, with Addi Ekstrom's (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) seven points leading the way in a 23-point outburst for Carroll, but the effort would be too little, too late as Eastern managed to hold on for the 58-46 win.

Keller led the Saints in scoring with 12 points, while Ekstrom and Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-JR) added nine points each.

Isabelle Erickson (Broadview, Mont. / R-JR) finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.

As a team, Carroll finished just 17-54 on the afternoon (31.5 percent).

Eastern Oregon saw a pair of double-digit scorers off the bench in Haylee Johnson and Raquel Fehringer, with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

The Saints will look to regroup, as they host Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) in their annual field trip game at 12 p.m. in the PE Center on Wednesday.
