Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 9 Saints Go Ice-Cold in Loss at No. 23 LC State

LEWISTON, Idaho - The No. 9-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team fell in a lopsided affair at No. 23 LC State, 73-44 in the P1FCU Activity Center on Friday evening.

The Fighting Saints (1-2) had one of their worst shooting nights in recent memory, and were unable to keep pace with the Warriors (4-0) in their first road game of the 2024 season.

Just two minutes into the game, an Izzy Erickson (Broadview, Mont. / R-JR) jumper would give the Saints a lead, but it wouldn't last long. The Warriors went 10-15 from the field in the opener (66.7 percent), racing out to a 22-10 lead after one.

The Warriors cooled off in the second quarter, scoring just 14 points in the frame, but Carroll couldn't find a way to cut into the LC State lead. Six points from Addi Ekstrom (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) highlighted the second frame for the Saints, but Carroll would head into the break trailing 36-22.

The third quarter was disastrous for the Fighting Saints. Carroll shot just 14 percent from the floor as a team (2-14), while pulling down just four rebounds. The Warriors capitalized, adding 15 points to their lead, while pulling down 16 boards in the frame.

Carroll again shot sub-40 percent in the fourth quarter, while the Warriors kept knocking down shots on the other end as No. 23 LC State raced away with a 73-44 win.

Meagan Karstetter (Moses Lake, Wash. / JR) and Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / R-SR) led the Saints in scoring on the night, each finishing with nine points.

Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-JR) pulled down eight rebounds to lead Carroll.

Ellie Sander led all scorers, finishing with 15 points in the win for the Warriors.

Carroll will look to respond quickly, as they turn around and take on Eastern Oregon tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
