HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team fell to Montana Western Thursday night on pink night at the PE Center.

A valiant comeback from the Fighting Saints after falling behind 2-0 wasn't quite enough and the Bulldogs came out on top three sets to two.

Western won the first set 25-22. The Bulldogs had 15 kills in the set.

The Bulldogs took a commanding 2-0 lead with a 25-19 win in set number two, with Carroll struggling to get anything going.Â

The Fighting Saints bounced back in set three with a 25-20 win. As a team, Carroll hit an impressive .386 in the set.

Carroll evened out the match in set four, racing out to a sizable lead. The Bulldogs came fighting back at the end, but the Saints held on for a 25-22 win in the frame. It was a clean set from the Saints as they only recorded two errors.

A hard fought fifth set from both sides required more than 15 points for the win, but ultimately resulted in Western winning 18-16.

Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / SR) led the Saints in kills again ,finishing her night with 17. Her sister Lauren (Helena, Mont. / SO) was second on the team with 11 kills in the match.

Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / GR) posted a game-high in digs, finishing with 37, while Hannah Schweikert (Colombia Falls, Mont. / SR) dished out 43 assists in the match.

Jazi Smith led the Bulldogs with 21 kills. Â

The Saints will now hit the road this weekend as they will take on Montana State Northern in Havre, Mont. Saturday night.
