HAVRE, Mont. - The Carroll Volleyball team picked up a four set victory on Saturday afternoon over MSU-Northern at the Armory Gymnasium.
The Fighting Saints (16-9, 4-7) came one step closer to evening their Frontier Conference record, topping the Skylights (11-12, 3-8) in four.
The match opened up with a tightly-contested first set. The back-and-forth frame fell the way of the Saints, who picked up the 25-23 win to begin the day.
Carroll had a poor attack in the second set, hitting just .095 in the frame. They battled despite the offensive struggles, but ultimately fell in extra points, 26-24.
With the match tied at 1-1, Carroll was dominant over the final two sets.
The Saints ran away with the match, earning 25-12 and 25-15 set wins in which they averaged .273 on the attack.
Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / R-JR) had a terrific afternoon, leading all players with 19 kills in the match. Her sister, Lauren (Helena, Mont. / SO) was right behind her with 15 kills of her own.
Carroll finished with seven aces as a team, two of which came from
Lauren Heuiser.
Hannah Schweikert (Columbia Falls, Mont. / R-JR) posted a game-high 48 assists.
Northern's Bailey Egan led all players with 28 digs in the loss.
The Saints will return to Butte for the second time in as many weeks on Wednesday, playing Montana Tech for the final time this season.
