KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Carroll College Women's Soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 defeat against Oregon Tech in a conference matchup at the OIT Soccer Field on Saturday.
Oregon Tech's Carly Moss scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick in the 17th minute, giving the Owls an early lead that proved to be decisive.
The Fighting Saints goalkeeper Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SO) made several key saves, finishing with four stops, but Carroll couldn't find the back of the net despite generating four shots, including two on target.
The Saints defense faced continuous pressure, conceding 10 shots and five on goal from the Owls.
Oregon Tech's defense stood strong, with goalkeeper Sydni Nakamura recording a shutout, stopping both of Carroll's shots on goal.
The loss drops Carroll to 7-4-4 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play, while Oregon Tech improves to 10-4-1, 6-3 in league action.
The Saints look to rebound in their next match as they continue their push for postseason contention.
Carroll will return to Helena for their final three games of the regular season, starting with Northwestern (Wash.) next Friday at Nelson Stadium.
