Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fighting Saints Fall to Yotes

CALDWELL, Idaho - The Carroll College Women's Soccer team couldn't hold off a surging College of Idaho, falling 5-2 at Simplot Stadium on Friday.

The Fighting Saints (7-3-3, 4-2-1) came racing out of the gates, taking an early 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the match.

Rachel McAllister (Brier, Wash. / FR) opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, converting on a great pass from Delaney Moczan to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Just four minutes later, Deanna Lord (Cave Creek, Ariz. / JR) added a second goal, assisted by Emily Funseth to put Carroll on top 2-0 quickly.

College of Idaho (9-0-2, 7-0-0) responded quickly, however, with Abbi Roubidoux scoring in the 27th minute to cut the lead in half. Natasja Davis tied the game at 2-2 with a penalty kick in the 30th minute, and Roubidoux added her second goal just before halftime to give the Yotes a 3-2 lead.

The Yotes extended their lead in the second half, with Davis scoring again in the 65th minute. An own goal by the Saints just minutes later sealed the win for College of Idaho, 5-2.

Carroll goalkeeper Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SO) recorded eight saves in the match, but saw severe pressure with 21 total shots from the Yotes, 13 of which were on goal.

The Saints will have little time to dwell on the loss, as they turn around for another critical mid-season matchup with Eastern Oregon in La Grande, Ore. tomorrow afternoon.
