Pocatello, Idaho. – Saints Track & Field started out 2024 strong at the Stacy Dragila Open in Pocatello, Idaho on Friday January 26.

Forty seven Saints entered the meet, with Weston Means (High Jump), Hunter Gum (Shot Put), Beau Meyer (Shot Put), Jackson Barney (Pole Vault), Marco Gonzalez-Sosa (800m), Zack Gacnik (3000m), Abigail McBeain (Shot Put), Harlie Jackson (400m), Callie Kaiser (High Jump), Jenna Castro (3000m), and Anna Terry (3000m) competing in their first track & field meet for the Saints. Most event fields included 20-40 individuals with many of those NCAA athletes.

Chloe Gallagher was a highlight with a sixth place finish in the Pole Vault. The mark hit the NAIA Indoor National Qualifying B Standard, giving Gallagher a chance to vault in the National Meet in early March. She is now ranked 16th in the NAIA.

Several individuals from the group achieved Top 10 finishes or personal records. For the men, Weston Means placed 5th (High Jump), Bodie Smith 6th (Long Jump), Carter White 8th (60m), and Elias Hill 10th (400m). The following athletes had personal bests: Jackson Barney (Pole Vault), Brycen Gardner (Mile), Peter Rehberger (Mile), Connor O'Hara (3000m), and Daniel Koralewski (3000m). On the women's side, Chloe Raats placed 6th (400m), Sophie Loveless 7th (Triple Jump), and Madison Lewis 10th (Shot Put). Madalen Shipman ran her best time ever in the 800m.

"It was so fun to see how engaged and competitive every athlete was out there today," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "I could tell everyone was running hard in races and working hard in field events, and we made some great steps forward," he added.

The main Saints squad will be in action again in Bozeman on February 9.
