HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College Basketball teams will kick off week three of Frontier Conference play with a pair of games at the Fortin Center this evening, taking on Rocky Mountain College at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. tonight in Billings.
On the Women's side of the action, Carroll enters the night as No. 6 in the nation following the release of the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll. They will get their first crack at a Battlin' Bears team that has tumbled outside of the top-25.
Following an 0-3 start to conference play, the Bears fell from No. 12 in the NAIA to the receiving votes category.
The Saints have won 16 straight games against Frontier Conference competition, with their last loss coming at the hands of the Bears in Billings last January.
Carroll will look to avenge that loss in Billings last season, and will likely turn towards their outstanding front court duo of
Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / GR) and
Maddie Geritz (Boise, Idaho / GR) to get it done. Pickens (17.3 ppg) and Geritz (12.4 ppg) are the two leading scorers for Carroll on the season.
The Carroll Men will look to bounce back from their first conference loss of the season this past Saturday, and will have to topple a Rocky squad that has spent plenty of time in the top-25 this season.
Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / JR) enters the night as the Frontier Conference leader in scoring (19.4 ppg), and
Zane Foster (Puyallup, Wash. / JR) is No. 7 in the NAIA in total blocks at 39.
Carroll will have to slow down a Rocky offense that averages 84.5 points per game (No. 35 in NAIA), and a roster full of players who can score in bunches. The Bears' Jesse Owens leads the team in scoring, averaging 17.5 ppg, and will surely be a focal point of the Carroll defenders.
The Saints will look to avenge a disappointing lopsided loss to the Bears in last year's Frontier Conference tournament, but have played Rocky well in Billings, winning their last five games at the Fortin Center dating back to 2021.
