Women's Basketball | 01/17/24 | 10:18 AM
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the latest edition of its Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll. The Carroll Women's Basketball team checks in at No. 6 in the latest Poll.
The Fighting Saints (12-3, 3-0) fell one spot from their No. 5 rating in the last edition of the Coaches' Poll, released in mid-December. They now find themselves sitting at the No. 6 spot that they began the year at, matching the rating from the Preseason Coaches' Poll in November.
Since the last rating, the Saints have suffered only one setback, a three-point neutral court loss in Hawaii to now-ranked No. 23 Indiana Tech. In that same time frame, Carroll picked up a road win over No. 16 Providence, who is the lone other Frontier team appearing within the nation's top-25.
Rocky Mountain College, Thursday's Carroll opponent, dropped from the top-25 following an 0-3 start to conference play. The Battlin' Bears fell from No. 12 to the receiving votes category, rounding out the Frontier representatives on the poll.
The Carroll Women have appeared inside the top-25 on every poll dating back to 2021 when the NAIA combined the two Women's Basketball divisions.
Rating Methodology
- The rating was rated by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated groups.
- The Coaches' Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered "receiving votes"
