HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Basketball teams will get their first opportunity to host a Frontier Conference opponent this season, welcoming Montana Western to the PE Center at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Both Carroll teams picked up a win in their respective Frontier Conference openers last weekend in Great Falls, and likewise, both Montana Western teams also enter the evening with a 1-0 conference record after their wins over MSU-Northern in Dillon on Saturday.
The Carroll Women (10-3, 1-0) are No. 5 in the nation, and looking to carry the momentum from their hard-earned victory over No. 16 Providence into tonight's conference home opener.Â
Jamie Pickens enters the game as the reigning Frontier Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season, following her 19 point, 15 rebound performance on Saturday.
Head Coach Rachelle Sayers will coach her 350th game at the helm for the Saints, and the all-time winningest coach in Carroll WBB history will look to add another to the tally.
Remarkably, Carroll carries a 12 game win streak over Montana Western into tonight's contest.
The Carroll Men (7-7,1-0) will also be looking to build some early-conference season momentum following a 67-65 win over Providence last weekend.
Head Coach Ryan Lundgren picked up his first win as the bench boss of the Saints, and is seeing his team start to gel on the court.
Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / JR) is the newest member of the Carroll 1,000 point club, but has his sights fully set on team accomplishments over individual marks.
The Men will have their hands full slowing down Western's Abi Adedo, who like Pickens on the Women's side, has several Frontier Player of the Week awards under his belt this season. Adedo scored 30 points in Western's overtime win over MSU-Northern, and will play against his former Williston State teammate,
Shaheed Muhammad (Arden Hills, Mont. / JR), who wears the Purple and Gold now.
Prior to the games, the PE Center Event Room will be formally dedicated in honor of Jerry Loendorf, one of the institution's most loyal and dedicated supporters.
Tonight's game will be broadcast on SWX stations across Montana, and live on the
Fighting Saints Network - presented by Point S Tire & Auto Service.
