Carroll Volleyball Drops Four Set Match to Providence

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll Volleyball team fell in a back-and-forth four set match to Providence on Friday evening at the Carroll College PE Center.

The Fighting Saints (5-14, 0-3) could not find a way to overcome the Argonauts (9-9, 2-1) in front of a great Carroll crowd.

A tightly contested opening set would break the Argos' way in the late stages, with Providence pulling away for a 25-21 set win.

Carroll would not go quietly, and the young group of Saints fed off of an enthusiastic Carroll crowd to close out the second set, 25-23 to even the match at 1-1.

A forgettable third frame saw Providence win 25-13, setting up what would become the final set of the evening.

Carroll had a set point opportunity in the fourth, with a 24-22 lead, but the Argos would find a way to come from behind and win the set and match, 26-24, 3-2.

The Saints attack was much improved over their previous several outings, with the team hitting .101 on the night.

Sidney Gulick (Kalispell, Mont. / SO) led the Saints with 13 kills. Jansyn Carrizales (Sunnyside, Wash. / FR) played well in her second varsity contest of the year, leading Carroll with 19 assists, while Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / SR) led all players with 29 digs.

Natalia Slazynska led all players with 28 assists, and both Zoe Naugle and Allya Tokelau finished with 13 kills for the Argos.

Up next for the Saints is a trip to Havre on Wednesday for a tilt with the Skylights.
