HAVRE, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team fell in straight sets to MSU-Northern this evening at the Armory Gymnasium in Havre, Mont.
The Fighting Saints (5-15, 0-4) fought until the very end, but were unable to emerge victorious in their match with the Skylights (9-10, 1-3).
Northern was able to pull away in a closely contested opening frame, winning the set 25-21.
Powered by a .233 hitting percentage in the set, Northern would win the second frame 25-18.
After finding themselves in a 9-2 hole to begin the third set, Carroll would respond. The Saints battled all the way back, and eventually had a set-point opportunity at 24-21. Unable to close the door, the match would continue into extra points, with both teams eclipsing 30 points in the frame.
Ultimately, Northern would pull away and win the marathon final set 33-31 to secure the three set win.
Mara Lynch (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) led the Saints with 10 kills. Jansyn Carrizales (Sunnyside, Wash. / FR) and
Norah Allen (Great Falls, Mont. / FR) each performed well, finishing with 16 and 15 assists, respectively.
Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / SR) continued her stellar season, finishing with 31 digs.
Northern's Baily Egan led all players with 34 digs in the match.
Next up, the Saints will host Montana Tech at 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Carroll College PE Center.
