BILLINGS, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team couldn't get much going on Friday evening, falling in straight sets to No. 23 Rocky Mountain College in Billings.
The Fighting Saints (5-12, 0-1), shorthanded due to a plethora of injuries, dropped their Frontier Conference opener to the Battlin' Bears (11-6, 1-0) in three sets.
A back-and-forth first set through the first 19 points would ultimately break in Rocky's direction in the final stages of the frame. Rocky scored the set's final five points in a row to close out the 25-19 win.
The next two sets were forgettable in nearly every fashion for the Saints, with Rocky winning 25-11, 25-13 to close out the sweep.
A very young Saints squad struggled with the attack on Friday, hitting just .08 as a team.
Mara Lynch (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) led the Saints with seven kills.
Lauren Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / FR) finished with 4 blocks, and
Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / SR) finished with 14 digs.
Blythe Sealy had the performance of the night, finishing with 35 assists for the Bears, while Makenna Bushman tallied 13 kills.
The Saints will look to regroup ahead of a trip to Dillon next Wednesday for a showdown with Montana Western at 7 p.m.
