HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Soccer team will play their second official match of the season tonight, as they square off with NCAA Division II opponent MSU Billings tonight at 7 p.m. in Billings.
The Fighting Saints (0-0-1) have had a very busy fall camp, already having played their full allotment of scrimmage and exhibition contests, as well as one true countable contest. Tonight, they'll get their second counter in, heading a couple of hours East for a clash with MSU Billings (1-0-0).
Playing under first year head coach, Austin Shick, Carroll has used the early portion of their year to experiment with different lineups and pairings. The team features 15 new faces and finding the right mix of talent and chemistry on the field has been goal No. 1 for the team to this point.
Now, as the CCC regular season draws near, the Saints are shifting goals, looking for results. Getting their first win of the year, and first of Shick's Carroll tenure is now the top priority.Â
The Saints will get that opportunity tonight against the Yellowjackets, who come into the game off of a 2-1 win over South Dakota Mines last night.
Having goalkeeper Juan Muniz Navarette (Hermiston, Ore. / SO), the reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Week, in between the pipes should help the Saints' chances tonight. Muniz Navarette played well against Whitworth (Wash.) last weekend, keeping a clean sheet and accruing five saves.Â
Points have been at a premium for Carroll in the young season. The team has, at times, struggled to get the ball on goal, and will look to open things up tonight in Billings.
