Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Carroll Volleyball Falls in Final Two Games of Frontier Preview

DILLON, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team wrapped up their play at the 2023 Frontier Conference preview falling in three sets to No. 11 Montana Tech, and four sets to Montana Western on Saturday in Dillon.

The Fighting Saints (5-11), unable to win either of their Saturday games, fell in all four of their matches at the Frontier Conference preview, an event centered around all six Frontier Conference members getting a chance to see their competition ahead of league play starting next week. None of the four games count against the Saints' conference record.

CARROLL vs MONTANA TECH

The opening frame would go into extra points, with both teams going back-and-forth throughout the first set. Ultimately, Montana Tech would go on to top the Saints 27-25.

The Orediggers would use the momentum from the opening set win, and proceed to win the next two sets, 25-18, 25-19.

The Saints hit a dismal .008 percent as a team in the opening match of the day.

Lauren Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / FR) finished with 6 kills and 3 blocks while fellow Montanan Norah Allen (Great Falls, Mont. / FR) finished with 11 assists.

CARROLL vs. MONTANA WESTERN

Carroll's play was much improved in the second match of the day against the host-school, Montana Western, but the Bulldogs would still find a way to close out the Saints in four sets.

After a Bulldog win in the opening set, 25-19, Carroll would go on to win the second frame 25-23 behind Hueiser's four kills in the set.

Unfortunately for the Saints, they were unable to utilize the momentum, and Western would take the third and fourth sets to close out the tournament (25-19, 25-13).

Hueiser and SIdney Gulick (Kalispell, Mont. / SO) each finished with nine kills in the evening match. Allen tallied 24 assists, and Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / SR) finished with 32 digs.

On deck for the Saints is their first official Frontier match of the season, as they head to Billings on Friday for a showdown with No. 23 Rocky Mountain College.
