COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. - The Carroll College Men's Soccer team were able to start CCC play off on the right foot, shutting out Walla Walla 3-0 to pick up their first win of the 2023 season on Friday.
The Fighting Saints (1-1-1), coming off of a lengthy break in their schedule, got things rolling in Washington on Friday, earning a 3-0 win over Walla Walla (0-2-0) to start Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
Carroll entered the match having never lost to the Wolves as a program, and the 2023 Saints would not be the ones to buck that trend.
Michal Mojzis (Bratislava, Slovakia / JR) got the monkey off of the collective Saints' backs, scoring Carroll's first official goal of the 2023 season. In the 28th minute, Mojzis had a great turn, and even better finish, beating the Walla Walla keeper to put Carroll on top 1-0.
With time winding down in the opening half,
Felix Billard (Mallorco, Spain / FR) had a nice heel flip to
William Dominguez (Mattawa, Wash. / JR), who then found
Enrico Paparelli (Sao Paulo, Brazil / FR) for another Saints goal, extending the lead to 2-0 heading into the break.
Ismael Navarro (Dayton, Texas / FR) would add the third-and-final goal for the Saints in the 71st minute, and Carroll would cruise to a 3-0 win.
Carroll were the more aggresive side by far in the match. The Saints outshot the Wolves 32-3 in the game.
The win will be fondly remembered by the team, with Head Coach Austin Shick claiming his first win at the helm for Carroll.
A long trip through Idaho and Montana awaits the Saints, who will head to Billings for a showdown with Rocky Mountain College on Sunday.
