HELENA, Mont. – Head Coach Ryan Lundgren has announced the second player to join the Carroll College Men's Basketball team under his watch, with the addition of Zane Foster.
 
Foster is a seven-foot transfer center, joining the Fighting Saints after a spring and summer at NCAA Division I Central Michigan.
 
Foster, originally from Puyallup, Wash., is a battle-tested defender with the length to alter any shot at or near the rim. The seven-footer brings the Saints a much-needed presence in the paint, with the ability to impact the game on both ends of the court.
 
"Zane is a unique blend of size and skill at the center position." Lundgren said of his newest recruit. "His ability to score around the rim, as well as alter shots on the defensive end will make an immediate impact in our program."
 
Foster played his Freshman season at NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State, where he appeared in 17 contests, averaging 3.8 points per game, and 3.6 rebounds per game.
 
He transferred to Green River Community College, and put up an impressive line during the 22-23 season. Foster appeared in 27 games, averaging nearly 25 minutes per game. He averaged 10.6 points per game, 7.7 rebounds per game, and 2.5 blocks per game for the Gators. His efforts earned him First Team All-League honors, in addition to being named the NWAC West Division Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Foster's excellent season earned him an offer from Central Michigan, where he originally committed for the upcoming season. After a spring and summer with the Chippewas, Foster cited a desire to be closer to home as a driving factor in joining the Saints this fall.
 
"Zane's experience at the NCAA level will help make for a seamless transition to Carroll. We expect him to be one of the top players in the Frontier Conference from day one. Most importantly, Zane is a great young man that will be a positive influence on our locker room and the Helena community."
 
The Saints still have one hole to fill in the roster for the 2023-24 season, and Coach Lundgren expects to have more good news for Saints fans in the coming days to complete this year's recruiting class.
 
Foster and the rest of his teammates will be on campus at the end of this month.
