HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College Cross Country announced the team's schedule for the 2023 season.
The Saints will compete in four regular season meets: the Providence Open in Great Falls, Mont. on Sept. 7, the Montana Open in Missoula, Mont. on Sept. 15, the Yellowjackets/Battlin Bears Open in Billings, Mont. on Oct. 6, and the Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Oct. 21. The Frontier Conference Championships will be held in Great Falls, Mont. on Nov. 3, and the NAIA National Championships will be in Vancouver, Wash. on Nov. 17.
Last season the Saints women won the Frontier Championship and placed 22nd at Nationals. They graduated four seniors but return All-Conference selection Hannah Sempf and senior captain Nicole Morgen. Seven freshmen join the squad with strong potential for some individuals to break into the women's scoring five for the Saints.
On the men's side the Saints also won the Conference Championship last year, and they placed 25th at the national meet. The men graduated four individualss, but they return a strong group of seniors in Connor O'Hara, Zach Rector, and James Normandeau. O'Hara, Rector, and sophomore Brycen Gardner were All-Conference selections last season. The Saints added four freshmen and two transfers, several of which are projected to score this season for the team.
In the preseason polls, both Saints teams were voted to win the Conference. On the national scale, Carroll is ranked 19th on the women's side and 20th on the men's side to start the season.
