Helena, Mont. – Head Coach Rachelle Sayers has announced the final additions to the 2023-24 Carroll College Women's Basketball team. Three Freshman and one transfer will join the Fighting Saints on the hardwood this fall.

The Saints, coming off a Frontier Conference championship, Frontier tournament championship, and appearance in the NAIA Women's Basketball Championship round of 16, have added additional pieces to a corps that will go down as one of the best in program history.

"I'm excited about the future of our program" Sayers said. "Our three freshmen are just as excited to be here at Carroll as we are to have them here. They are all very competitive and hungry to continue the tradition of winning here at Carroll. Add in Willa, who gives us an immediate impact player that will also provide great leadership and experience, and we feel great about our chances this season."

Several prominent fixtures on the Carroll Women's Basketball team have graduated, and their presence on the court is sure to be missed. However, the coaching staff feels that this year's class takes significant steps toward replacing the talent that was lost.

The incoming 2023 class features a mix of Montana and Washington talent, with both names that are synonymous with the program, and names that Saints fans will learn to recognize immediately.

Willa Albrecht / R-JR / G / Billings, Mont. (University of Montana)
Albrecht, a six-foot guard, joins a growing list of players to transfer to Carroll from the University of Montana. She has appeared in 30 games for the Grizzlies over the past three seasons, with a pair of injuries limiting her playing time in the last two. The former Billings West Golden Bear had an impressive collegiate debut, scoring a career-high 14 points, while going 4-5 from the three-point line. Albrecht reunites with former Lady Griz teammate, Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / JR / G), and the pair will surely be a handful for opponents in the upcoming season.

"Willa will bring us a lot of offensive firepower, and can step up as a defensive stopper." Sayers said. "She has the ability to take over a game on both ends of the floor. She has great length and athleticism, and knows how to score in a variety of ways. She will be a force in this league."

Ellie Denny / FR / G / Fairfield, Wash. (Liberty HS)
The Denny name is one not lost on Carroll supporters. Ellie's older sister Christine was a standout player in recent years for the Saints. The younger Denny aims to continue the legacy and establish a name for herself in the coming years after a stellar prep career. At five-nine, she slots in as more of a guard than her sister, and has a knack for scoring, averaging double-digit points over the final two years of high school. She was a second team All-League performer in her sophomore season, while being selected first team All-League her junior and senior seasons. In addition, she was an All-State honoree as a senior.

"Ellie will be ready to take over where her sister left off." Sayers Said. "She is a strong finisher and a big-time competitor. We couldn't be more excited to have another Denny in our program. She will give us great depth at the wing position."

Alex Bullock / FR / F / Helena, Mont. / (Helena HS)
Another name that will instantly resonate with Carroll supporters, Alex Bullock is a local standout ready to make an impact at the collegiate level. Bullock's mother, Lisa, also played for the Saints. The Helena High product had a great prep career and was a multiple-year leader for the Bengals. She joins the Saints after having been named both first team All-Conference and All-State the past two seasons. The versatile forward was selected to play in the Montana-Wyoming all-tar game, and bolsters an already deep Carroll front court.

"Alex will be an exciting player to watch." Sayers said. "She has great footwork in the post position and she is a very physical and aggressive rebounder. She plays with great energy and loves the game. It's exciting
to have another legacy player in the program as well as a Helena native."

Margreit Galow / FR / G / Spokane, Wash. (St. George HS)
Galow will join her former high-school opponent, Ellie Denny, at Carroll, this time as teammates. Galow joins the Saints with the reputation as a deadly three-point shooter. She averaged 16 points per game, five rebounds per game, and five assists per game in a senior campaign that saw her earn first team All-League honors and an invitation to the All-State game. Galow's sister, Alyson, is a recent Carroll graduate who spent four seasons as a manager for the Saints.

"Margreit has a great stroke from the three-point line." Sayers Said. "She has a quick release and good range, and will definitely give us some much-needed long-range abilities. She is another good recruit out of the Spokane area and is a player that really wanted to be a Saint. We are excited to see her grow into a starting role in the guard lineup."

Albrecht has been on campus all summer, with the three freshmen and gearing up for a late-August arrival to campus for preparations for the upcoming season.
