HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Softball team will host their final series of the 2023 regular season at home this weekend, as the Beacons of Bushnell come to Helena on the final weekend of the conference season.
The Fighting Saints (16-26, 10-17) enter the final series of the season knowing they have work to do if they wish to play in the Cascade Collegiate Conference postseason. Standing in their way is Bushnell (11-33, 7-20).
With only three conference games remaining, the Saints find themselves two games back of Northwest and the sixth position in the CCC standings. At bare minimum, the Saints must win two out of their three games against Bushnell this weekend. Even with two victories, Carroll will need some help from Northwest's opponent this weekend.
At first glance, odds would seem to fall in favor of the Saints for the final weekend pieces to fall together. Carroll gets to host a team near the bottom of the CCC standings, while Northwest has to travel to No. 4 Southern Oregon, a team which has only five conference losses on the season.
Unfortunately things are not always as simple as they appear, and the Saints know that they must take control of their own destiny this weekend.
A group of eight seniors, who have seen numerous changes at the top of the last four seasons, will head into their final home series with one goal in mind. Win all three, and see what happens.
Friday's doubleheader, scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. will mark only the second time this season that the Saints will have played at their home field at Centennial Park.
Saturday will be senior day for the Saints, where the eight seniors on the team will be recognized for their time, effort, and accomplishments at the end of the second game.
This weekend's games will be streamed live on the
Fighting Saints Network - presented by Point S Tire & Auto. Live stats for Friday's games can be found
