LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Carroll College Men's and Women's Golf teams find themselves each sitting in third place after one round at the 2023 Frontier Conference Championship.
Leo Werschay (St. Augusta, Minn. / FR) had the round of the day for the Saints. Werschay fired a five-over round of 77 in the opening round. The 77 is just five-strokes off of the lead, and Werschay currently sits in fifth place individually.
Kaden Matheny (Missoula, Mont. / FR) and
Jonny Hillman (Post Falls, Idaho / SR) shot 87 and 89, respectively, with
Sam Conner's (Salt Lake City, Utah / SO) 93 rounding out the four counting scores for the Saints.
The Carroll Men sit in third place with a team-score of 346 (+58), trailing Montana Tech and tournament-leader Montana Tech.
Katie Fagg (Missoula, Mont. / SR) matched Werschay's top-five pace on the Women's side. Fagg shot a 12-over par 83 in the opener, leaving her in fifth place on the Women's leader board.
Stella Claridge (Kalispell, Mont. / FR) shot 94,
Isa Tomazeli (Sao Paulo, Brazil) shot 96, and
Echo Anderson (Post Falls, Idaho / JR) shot 106 to round out Carroll's four counters.
The Women's team-score of 380 puts them comfortably in third place, with more than 30 strokes separating them and fourth place Montana Western.
