HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College Softball team will play their third consecutive doubleheader this afternoon when they take on NCAA Division I Montana in Missoula at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The Fighting Saints (9-14, 5-7) come off of a weekend split with Northwest, while Montana (2-23) enters having lost their last two games at Seattle University.
Due to mother nature's reluctance to cooperate with Carroll's early season schedule, the Saints had their first opportunity for a home series this past weekend. Monday's doubleheader will also be the first home games of the season for the Griz.
The Saints had an inconsistent weekend, struggling to put bats to balls on Saturday, but finding their rhythm in a pair of explosive Sunday games where they posted back-to-back nine run games.
The two teams have met 13 times, with Montana having won all previous contests.
Last season, Carroll had the Griz on the ropes, but a late-inning Montana comeback netted them a 9-7 win.
Game one of today's double header, scheduled for a 2 p.m. first pitch, will count towards Carroll's overall record, while the second game will be tallied as an exhibition.
Today's games will be broadcast live on Montana SWX channels, as well as on
ESPN+, a subscription-based online stream service.
