HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Softball team will begin Cascade Collegiate Conference play this afternoon with a double-header against No. 13 College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The Fighting Saints (3-4), under first year Head Coach Shawna Juarez, will look to start conference play on the right foot. Standing in their way is preseason No. 13 College of Idaho (10-0).

Carroll had a successful, albeit unconventional, start to their year with non-conference play. The Saints took two trips to Minot, N.D. for games under a bubble dome against a mixture of NAIA and NCAA Division II schools. The Saints picked up a couple of lopsided victories, and enter their conference schedule with confidence.

The 2023 Saints have shown the ability to put runs on the board, twice scoring 10-plus runs through seven games. Amber Brewer (Phoenix, Ariz / SR) made program history in last weekend's 15-4 win over MSU Billings. The senior became the first Saint to hit for the cycle, going 5-5 with five RBI and four runs scored.

Carroll will look to avenge the four losses they suffered to the Yotes last season in Caldwell, and establish themselves as a team to be reckoned with in the CCC.

This weekend's series was originally scheduled to take place in Helena, but a blast of frigid weather has settled over Montana. With temperatures in the negatives, the decision was made to move the series to Caldwell over concerns for student-athlete well being and equipment safety.
