Men's Cross Country | 11/07/23 | 12:37 PM

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the final NAIA Men's and Women's Cross Country Top 25 Ratings of the season. Both the Carroll College Men and Women are appearing on their respective polls.

The Carroll Men finish the 2023 season with a No. 18 rating in the final poll of the year, while the Carroll Women will finish at No. 17 in the final coaches' poll of the season.

On the men's side, the Fighting Saints made the nation's  biggest jump of the week, up seven spots to No. 18, following their third-consecutive Frontier Conference Championship last weekend in Great Falls.

The Carroll Women won their fourth-consecutive Frontier title, but fell one spot in the national poll, from No. 16 to No. 17.

The Fighting Saints are the highest-rated Frontier Conference team on each of the two polls. Rocky Mountain (No. 23 Men, No. 24 Women) and Montana Tech (No. 19 Men, No. 22 Women) are the conference's other two representatives on the list.

The Carroll Cross Country teams are an automatic qualifier for next week's NAIA National Championship in Vancouver, Wash. via their respective conference championships last week.

MEN'S POLL

Rating Methodology:

  • The Top 25 was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, and Unaffiliated Groupings.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low ratings) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes"
