Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Carroll Men Can't Calm Firestorm, Fall 87-63

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Carroll Men's Basketball team fell to 0-2 on the young season following an 87-63 loss to No. 3 Arizona Christian on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Fultz Memorial Classic.

The Fighting Saints (0-2) couldn't keep pace with 53 first half points from the Firestorm (2-0) on Saturday at Arizona Christian's home court.

Almost nothing was going to stop Arizona Christian from taking a lead into the halftime break.

The Firestorm scored 53 points in the opening frame, shooting an incredible 78.6 percent from the field as a team, and out-rebounded the Saints 17-11.

Lorenzo Wright (10), Dennis Flowers (8), and Anthony Garza led the charge for ACU in the opening half, combining for half of the Firestorm points.

Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif.) put up 12 first half points, but saw his team trail 53-32 at the break.

ACU would come back to earth in the second half,  but would again outscore the Saints, this time 34-31 to lock up the 24-point win.

Cook led the Saints with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Kendall Moore (Dayton,Ohio / JR), Zane Foster (Puyallup, Wash. / JR) and Trent Rogers (Bozeman, Mont. / SO) each added 10 points.

Flowers led all players, finishing with a game-high 17 points for the Firestorm.

Carroll will head north tomorrow, making a stop in Orem, Utah for an exhibition with NCAA Division I Utah Valley on Monday evening, before returning home for the Comfort Suites Classic next weekend in Helena.
