LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Carroll College Men's Basketball team evened their record a 3-3 on the season following an 89-71 win over Walla Walla (Wash.) at the Quinn Classic in La Grande, Ore. on Saturday evening.
The Fighting Saints (3-3) bounced back from a tough overtime loss against host-school Eastern Oregon last night, cruising to an 18-point victory over the Wolves (1-1).
Carroll held a 15-point advantage after a first half which saw nine different Saints in the scoring column.
Gui Pedra (Sao Paulo, Brazil / SR) led the way for the Saints in the opening frame, scoring eight points and pulling down five rebounds.
As a team, Carroll shot nearly 50 percent from the field in the first half, all while holding the Wolves to just 27 points on 31.3 percent shooting in the frame.
The Wolves would fight hard in the second half, going on several runs that would trim the Carroll lead to as little as six points, but the Saints would respond each time.
Walla Walla's Soren Dalan was a menace in the second half, scoring 17 of the Wolves' 44 points.Â
Andrew Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif. / JR), however, was equally as impressive, matching Dalan's 17 points as Carroll rolled to the 89-71 win.
Cook led all scorers with 22 points, while Pedra finished with 14 and seven rebounds.
Kendall Moore (Dayton, Ohio / JR) had an outstanding night as well, adding 15 points and nine rebounds.
The Saints will now have lengthy break before their next game, a road contest at Dickinson State (N.D.) on December 1.
