Box Score DICKINSON, N.D. - The Carroll Men's Basketball team came up short in a rally against Mayville State at the Coca-Cola Classic on Friday night in Dickinson, N.D.
The Fighting Saints (3-4) made an early blow-out into a tight game heading into halftime, but they couldn't quite keep up with the Comets (8-2) in the back half of Friday night's game.
Carroll found themselves in a hole early, but
James Lang (Portland, Ore. / R-JR) provided a spark helped erase a 19-point deficit with a pair of three-pointers to help narrow the gap to just two points at the halftime break, 40-38.
Carroll was cold in the second half, and the Comets continued to shoot the ball well. Mayville ran away in the second half, extending their lead by eight and taking the game 84-74.
James Lang was outstanding for the Saints, the redshirt sophomore scored a career-high 22 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Kendall Moore (Dayton, Ohio / JR) finished with 11 points, eight assists, and three rebounds.
Mayville State's Jamison Kramer had an outstanding night, finishing with a game-high 34 points and 10 rebounds.
The Saints will be back in action tomorrow night with a chance to take down host-school Dickinson State tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
