HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team dropped a tough four set match to (RV) Rocky Mountain College on Friday evening at the Carroll College PE Center.
The Fighting Saints (5-17, 0-6) once again fought hard, but could not find a way to overcome the Battlin' Bears (16-9, 4-2).
Rocky, after arriving to the gym late due to travel issues, came in and won the opening frame 25-18.
Carroll responded well, earning a 25-20 win in the second set to even the match at 1-1, before Rocky returned the favor with a 25-20 win in the third set.
A tightly contested fourth set had fans on the edge of their seat, with both Rocky finally pulling ahead by two to win the set in extra points, 29-27, and the match 3-1.
Mara Lynch (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) had maybe the best game of her four-year career. Lynch finished with a team-high 17 kills, and also added 22 digs.
Jansyn Carrizales (Sunnyside, Wash. / FR) tallied 22 assists, while
Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / SR) did what she does best, finishing with 34 digs.
Rhiannon Nez led all players with 18 kills for the Bears, and Brooke Ark finished with a highly-impressive 48 digs.
