HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Soccer teams are in Washington for their final out-of-state road trip of the 2023 regular season this weekend, with both teams facing off against Evergreen State on Friday, and Northwest on Saturday.

The Carroll Women (9-1-3, 6-1-2) have already clinched their spot in the CCC postseason tournament, and now begin the fight to lock up a top-seed in the championship. They should have a good opportunity to do so, squaring off with the Geoducks (2-9-1, 2-6) and the Eagles (7-5-1, 5-2-1), both trail the Fighting Saints in the league standings.

Nearing the finale of the 2023 season, the Carroll Women have been outstanding defensively. Rarely are the Saints ever out-shot in any contest, with a veteran group of defenders and midfielders locking down the opposing half of the pitch. On the season, Carroll has given up only nine total goals on the year, a stark comparison to their 21 goals scored.

Of the 21 goals on the year, Emily Funseth (Great Falls, Mont. / SR) has netted eight of them. Funseth's eight goals place her at No. 3 on the conference individual leader board, and just two off of Evergreen State's total goal output as a team.

Friday's game in Olympia will kick-off at 4 p.m. and live stats can be followed HERE. Saturday's game against the Eagles in Kirkland is also set for a 4 p.m. start time, and live stats for that game can be found HERE.

On the Men's side, Carroll sits tied for third in the CCC standings, and while they haven't officially locked in a spot in the postseason tournament, a good weekend in Washington should be more than enough to secure their first postseason berth since the 2018 season.

The Fighting Saints (6-3-3, 6-2-2) were overlooked by most, if not all, CCC coaches this season. They were picked to finish 11th in the preseason coaches' poll.

Matches against the Geoducks (5-5-3, 4-2-3) and Eagles (7-3-3, 4-23), who are both tied for fifth place in the league table, will give the Saints a great barometer on where they stand heading into the league championship.

The Saints have far and away the least amount of saves out of any team in the CCC (19), but that is simply a reflection of how good the team has been at slowing down opposing attacks. Teams simply don't get many shots on net against a stingy Carroll defensive side.

Both Friday and Saturday's games are slated to start at 1:30 p.m. for the Men. Live stats for Friday's tilt with Evergreen State can be found HERE, and live stats for Saturday can be found HERE.

A live stream of Friday's games can be found HERE, and a live stream for Saturday can be seen HERE.
