OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Carroll College Men's Soccer team went 90 minutes with Evergreen State on Friday afternoon, with the game ultimately finishing in a 1-1 tie.
The Fighting Saints (6-3-4, 6-2-3) found early success, but could not seem to find a second goal, having to settle for a draw with the Geoducks (5-5-4, 4-2-4).
Right from the get-go, the match had the makings of a high-scoring affair.
Just three minutes into the game,
Sean Balen (Mukilteo, Wash. / FR) scored the first goal of his collegiate career off of an assist from
Walker Jump (Couer d'Alene, Idaho / SO), to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
The Geoducks would respond in the 18th minute, with Kolby Juarez finding the equalizer to tie things up at 1-1, where the score would remain throughout.
Carroll out-shot Evergreen State 17 to 11, and had eight corner kicks to the Geoducks' two, they just simply couldn't find the second goal to earn the full three points.
The draw boosts Carroll to 21 points on the season, and they currently sit at No. 3 in the CCC standings. A win tomorrow against Northwest can solidify their positioning, and would clinch the first postseason berth for the team since 2018.
