No. 13 and No. 16 Cross Country Teams at Biggest Race of the Season in Michigan

MT Open XC 23
Trasie Humble (Humble In Montana)

Men's Cross Country | 10/20/23 | 3:44 PM

HELENA, Mont. – Saints Cross Country travels to Grand Rapids, Mich. for the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday October 21.

The meet will be the largest of the season for the Saints with over 1000 runners over four races. It touts some of the toughest competition yet with 15 men's teams ranked in the NAIA Top 25 or receiving votes (RV) and 12 women's teams Top 25 or RV. Teams participating span 10 conferences from across the nation. From the Frontier Conference, Montana Tech and Rocky Mountain College will also attend.

The 13th ranked Carroll women and 16th ranked Carroll men will each enter seven runners. Three of the women and four of the men raced last year at Great Lakes, bringing experience to a sea level course that typically produces fast times.

"This race is a great opportunity for us to position ourselves on the national scene, and it will be fun to be on the hunt for teams ranked ahead of us," said Head Coach Shannon Flynn. "We're aiming to be a little more bold than normal but to stay true to what has worked so far for us this season."

The races will take place at Riverside Park with the Men's 8k at 10:00 am Eastern and the Women's 5k at 11:00 am Eastern.
