HELENA, Mont. - The No. 18 Carroll Women's Basketball team earned a one-sided bounce-back victory over Providence on Thursday at the Carroll PE Center, 73-41.
The Fighting Saints (13-5, 4-1) wasted no time getting back on track after a disappointing loss last weekend in Billings, defeating Providence (11-7, 1-4) 73-41 in Helena.
The first quarter was the most tightly contested of the game, with each team feeling the other out early.
Maddie Geritz (Boise, Idaho / R-SR) and
Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / JR) led the way for the Saints with six and five points, respectively, but Providence shot 54 percent from the field to keep within one point, 14-13.
Carroll would break things open in the second quarter, outscoring the Argos 24-9 in the frame to carry a 38-22 lead into the break. Keller again had a strong quarter, pacing the Saints with eight points in the frame.
More stifling defense was on deck in the third quarter, as Carroll held Providence to just seven points on 21 percent shooting as a team. Carroll would double up their opponent after three quarters, 58-29, before getting some of their reserves onto the court in the fourth quarter, coasting to a 73-41 win.
Kyndall Keller led all scorers with 15 points.
Maddie Geritz had a strong showing, finishing her night with 12 points and seven rebounds, and
Addi Ekstrom (Bozeman, Mont. / SO) scored 10 points from the starting five as well.
Maddy Dixon finished with 10 points to lead the way for the Argos.
The Saints will now turn their attention towards a bout with MSU-Northern at 2 p.m. at the PE Center in Helena.
