Women's Basketball | 01/11/23 | 9:35 AM
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has released the latest edition of the 2022-23 NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Carroll College remains in the top-20, checking in at No. 18 on the list.
The Fighting Saints (12-5, 3-1) slid seven spots back in the latest edition of the Coaches' Poll. Since the previous ratings, Carroll has gone 6-1, with their lone loss coming this past weekend at now-ranked No. 20 Rocky Mountain College.
Carroll is the only school with five losses to appear on the poll. Each of Carroll's five losses, however, are to teams that are currently ranked inside the NAIA Top-25 (Thomas More, Indiana Wesleyan, Lewis Clark State, Rocky Mountain College, Southern Oregon).
The Saints are one of three Frontier Conference schools appearing on the list, alongside No. 12 Montana Western and No. 20 Rocky Mountain College.
Carroll will host University of Providence this Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Carroll College PE Center.
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Independents and Unaffiliated Groups.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered low ratings) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the team appears on.
- Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
