SPOKANE, Wash. - The Carroll College Men's Soccer team fell at the hands of Whitman College, 3-1 in Spokane, Wash. Saturday night.
Coming off of a 2-1 home win over Providence on Tuesday evening, the Saints headed west for a pair of matches with NCAA Division III schools this weekend, starting with Whitman College on Saturday.
It was a damp afternoon for the Saints, with a steady drizzle of rain blanketing the pitch. The action was slow to begin the match, with both teams feeling each other out.
Whitman managed to get on the board first in the 16th minute, taking a 1-0 lead on Edwin Romero goal that got past Carroll Keeper
Mathias Gravesen (Copenhagen, Denmark / FR).
In the 42nd minute Carroll would find the equalizer.
Jack Bentson (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) put away a rebound goal to tie the game at 1-1 entering the half.
Unfortunately for the Saints, a pair of Whitman goals in the 59th and 65th minutes would put the game out of reach.
Carroll will get a good night's rest and turn around for a contest with Whitworth tomorrow at 4 p.m.
