EUGENE, Ore. - The Carroll College Women's Soccer team picked up their first Cascade Collegiate Conference win of the year, defeating Bushnell 3-1 on Saturday evening in Eugene, Ore.

Just 24 hours after playing Corban to a 1-1 tie, Carroll (4-1-3, 1-0-1) was able to take down Bushnell (0-6-0, 0-1-0) to finish the week on a high note.

The early portion of the game was slow moving, with not much happening in the first 25 minutes of the game.

The Beacons would be the first team to score, when in the 29th minute, Abbie Chambers snuck past a Carroll defender and managed to get one past the keeper to put Bushnell up 1-0.

The 1-0 score would carry into halftime, with Carroll unable to score on any of its six first half shots.

Just five minutes into the second half, Emily Funseth (Great Falls, Mont. / JR) would find the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.

Thirty seconds later, Blair Stapleton would break free and score her eighth goal of the season to give the Saints a 2-1 lead.

In the 68th minute, Stapleton would score again, her ninth on the year and third goal of the weekend to give the Saints a 3-1 lead that they would not surrender.

Stapleton now has a total of four two-goal performances under her belt on the season, and added an assist to her card tonight on Funseth's goal, making a strong case for her third CCC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Carroll will return home and prepare for matches at home versus Warner Pacific on Friday at 2 p.m., and Multnomah at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
