BILLINGS, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball Team split a pair of matches on Friday at the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament in Billings, losing 3-2 to Providence, and winning 3-1 over MSU-Northern.
Coming off of a five-set win on Thursday, the Saints returned to the court for a pair of matches on Friday.
In the morning match, The Saints squared off with last season's Frontier Conference Champion, Providence.
The Argos took the first two sets, 25-23, 25-19. Carroll would respond by winning the next two frames, 25-19, 26-24. The Argos would however prevail, winning the deciding fifth set 15-9.
Carroll was led by
Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / SR) with 15 kills,
Hannah Schweikert (Columbia Falls, Mont. / SO) who added 35 assists and 21 digs alongside
Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / JR) who also accrued 21 digs.
The Saints would quickly turn around for the evening match, where they would topple the Skylights of MSU-Northern in four sets.
MSU-Northern would take a closely contested first set 26-24, before the Saints rattled off three straight wins, 26-24, 25-21, 25-17.
Sidney Gulick (Kalispell, Mont. / FR) had an impressive match, leading Carroll with 15 kills, Schweikert tallied 39 assists, and Carr finished the match with 22 digs.
The Saints will play one more match in the morning against No. 20 Montana Tech at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
